Florals

Experimenting with florals and colours this week was a challenge for me. As I usually avoid using colour, this pushed me out of my comfort zone. From being inspired by Elizabeth Black adder, I tried to imitate her style of painting florals. The watercolour method proved very difficult for me, however, I admired the abstract and loose forms that could be created. I also experimented with other methods such as Acrylic, and pencil colours. I enjoyed using the pencil colours, as I felt I had more control and was able to capture more detail. Although at this stage I have not settled down with a colour palette, I am intrigued by the beautiful colours within the florals and so am considering to use these as a colour palette.

I also tried working with tracing paper,  i drew on top and then place on to a sheet with colour underneath, this was very useful and allowed me to place the flowers where they looked best. However, the only problem was, the scale at which the work was at. This is something i need to push further with my floral drawings.

This week was my optional tutor and I had decided on choosing Rachel. From this tutorial, i had learnt i need to build a portfolio that had a variety of different florals. She also mentioned i should just concentrate on one aspect, however i still feel i want to stay focused on nature as a whole.
